Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated with religious fervor across Pakistan, taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the global coronavirus.
Remember that, today is the second day of Eid-ul-Adha across the country and animal sacrifices continue in various areas following the Sunnah of Abraham.
According to private TV Geo News, the skins of 40,000 to 50,000 goats are being sold at Rs. 100 to Rs. 150, while the skins of coarsely loaded bulls have come down to Rs. 600 to Rs.700
On the other hand, the sellers of skins in the temporary markets say that this time the prices of skins are at the lowest level in history. The sellers of skins say that the prices of animals are increasing every year while the price of skins is decreasing. The skin of the goat used to sell for Rs 2,000 last year but this year it is being sold for less than half, while the skin of goats which was sold two and a half hundred last year now it’s selling for Rs 100 only.
Regarding the low prices of animal skins on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, leather traders say that it is not possible to stop the downward trend in the prices of skins without increasing exports.
