European Union: Expansion of Pakistan’s GSP Plus status

EU extends Pakistan’s GSP Plus status According to Hum News, a statement issued by the European Union said that Pakistan will remain in GSP Plus till 2023.

On the other hand, the European Commission’s rules regarding GSP Plus have also been changed. The role of the European Union is important in increasing exports.

Under the new law, the European Commission has been given the power to withdraw GSP Plus status prematurely. Status can be revoked if human rights or labor laws are violated.

According to the European Commission, conventions on environmental pollution and good governance have also been included in the GSP Plus framework.

It may be recalled that Pakistan got the status of GSP Plus in 2013, but its benefits were received from January 1, 2014, to 2017 as duty-free access. Which have since been expanded twice.
