Iran, Azerbaijan escalate tensions
Tehran: Tensions have risen in Iran and Azerbaijan. According to the International News Agency, tensions between Azerbaijan and Iran have escalated in recent weeks, when Azerbaijan began targeting Iranian trucks with fines and arrests, and Iran moved troops to its border with Azerbaijan, and What is Azerbaijan’s ally against the Israeli influence near the border?
In August, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry invited the Iranian ambassador, citing ‘undesirable facts’ that Iranian trucks travel illegally in the Karabakh region without Azerbaijan’s permission.
A statement from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry called on the new Iranian administration to take steps to end such incidents. The war-torn truck was traveling on a road between the Armenian towns of Kapan and Goris, which were handed over to Azerbaijan after the Nagorno-Karabakh war last year.
Earlier this month, Azerbaijani forces set up a checkpoint and began taxing and inspecting Iranian commercial trucks traveling on the highway. Several Iranian truck drivers were also arrested.
Azerbaijani officials have said that our law requires all Iranian vehicles to comply with the country’s law in order to pay road and transit fees.
