ABU DHABI: The Karachi Kings will meet the Multan Sultans in the second half of the PSL 2021 today (Thursday). The Sultans have had a terrible showing in the competition so far.
Out of the five games they’ve played thus far, the Sultans have only managed to win two points. Karachi Kings, on the other hand, are vying for first place in the table with six points from five games.
The weather is expected to be a major factor in putting the players’ devotion to the test. In the first phase of the PSL in Karachi, the Karachi Kings had a strong showing, winning three of their five matches. The Sultans, on the other hand, had only won one of the five games they had played during the first leg of the competition.
This is the second leg of the encounter between the two teams, with the first game taking place earlier in Karachi. Even after the Sultan put up a massive total on the board, the Kings were able to comfortably chase it down, winning the game with seven wickets in hand and in less than 19 overs.
Karachi, on the other hand, will be without Joe Clarke, who hit 54 off 26 balls in that encounter. Mohammad Nabi, Daniel Christian, and Colin Ingram are all no longer with the Kings, although Martin Guptill’s presence will undoubtedly bring value to the Kings’ batting lineup.
When it comes to batting, they are more likely to rely on local players Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan, while Mohammad Amir will be one of the franchise’s primary bowlers.
The Multan Sultans no longer have Vince, Lynn, Afridi, or Brathwaite among their ranks, but Mohammad Rizwan, along with Shimron Hetmyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the batting line, appears to be in good form.
Blessing Muzarabani’s late selection in place of Obed McCoy and Shahnawaz Dahani’s pace will be crucial, while Usman Qadir and Imran Tahir’s spin pair have the capacity to challenge any batting side in the world.
The Sultans, who have a tiny advantage over the Quetta Gladiators on the points table due to a higher run rate, will try to enhance their position in the tournament.
However, history favors the Karachi Kings, who have won seven of the eight times the two clubs have met in the PSL.
Mohammad Aamir, Babar Azam (Karachi Kings), Mohammad Rizwan, and Shahnawaz Dahani are players to watch (Multan Sultans).
March starts at: 6:00pm PST
