KARACHI: Schools and other educational institutions in Sindh will remain open despite the continuing increase in coronavirus cases, the Provincial Task Force on coronavirus ruled on Saturday.

The Prime Minister convened a meeting of the COVID-19 to review the increase in cases of coronavirus throughout the province, especially in Karachi, as the positivity rate in the port city reached 35.30% in the last 24 hours.

CM Murad Ali Shah chaired a meeting attended by members of the COVID-19 organization, the Sindh Department of Health, and health experts.

CM Shah, during the meeting, said the mob’s refusal to follow coronavirus SOPs had led to an increase in coronavirus cases, but if people cooperated with management, we could control the fifth wave.

Meanwhile, we have made it compulsory for people to wear a mask in public places, the prime minister said, noting that the working group will meet again in a few days, review cases, and make other decisions.

The minister said officials who did not wear a mask would be fined. It was proposed that a day’s wage be deducted from any public servant who did not wear a mask at work.
