Veteran actor Rasheed Naz passes away

Veteran actor Rasheed Naz died Monday, his family has confirmed. The actor was 73 years old. The news was confirmed by actress Madiha Rizvi on Instagram. Sharing a photo of Naz, he wrote, “Our dear Father Rashid Naz has passed away peacefully this morning. Please recite Surah Fateha of the departed soul.”
Funeral services for the actor will be held at Charsadda Road Eid Gah at 3 p.m.

Naz, born in Peshawar in 1948, had a productive career for over 40 years. In 1971, he started his television career as an actor in the television drama Pushto. His first Urdu play was Aik Tha Gaoon (1973). His first famous game was Namoos. He also starred in Pakistan’s first private television show Dasht, which was televised on NT M. The celebrity star has starred in a few Pashto, Hindu and Urdu dramas.

In addition to Urdu projects, Naz worked on his first Pashto film Zama Jang (Meri Jang) in 1988. He made his first big screen game with Syed Noor’s Dakait. The actor has been praised for his role in Shoaib Mansoor’s film Khuda Ke Liye and Verna. Naz also performed on a popular song directed at Mansoor, Ishq Mohabbat Apnapan starring Iman Ali.
