Yousuf Raza Gilani has filed an intra-court appeal against the election of Chairman Senate

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the Senate and PPP leader Yousuf Raza Gilani has filed an intra-court appeal against the election of the new chairman of the Senate. It may be recalled that the Islamabad High Court had declared Raza Gilani’s petition against the election of Chairman Senate inadmissible. According to the latest developments in this regard, Yousuf Raza Gilani filed an intra-court appeal in the Islamabad High Court against the decision of the single bench.

Opposition leader in the Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani called for the annulment of the single bench decision. He took a stand that the decision of the presiding officer to reject 7 votes should be annulled.

Advocate Javed Iqbal Venus filed an appeal on behalf of Yousuf Raza Gilani in which it was requested to immediately suspend the decision of the presiding officer. It is believed that a single bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah appointed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Declaring the petition inadmissible, he remarked that the entire process of selection of the Senate Chairman was completely outside the purview of the High Court and therefore the petition of Yousuf Raza Gilani was inadmissible.

In the petition filed against the election of the chairman of the senate, he had argued that the decision to reject the vote in favor of Yousuf Raza Gilani was unconstitutional. The petitioner said that the members belonging to the PDM in the senate There was a majority, we have unfairly snatched the seat of Chairman Senate.

The petitioner had claimed that the notification issued on March 12 to make Sadiq Sanjrani Chairman Senate was illegal. The petitioner had requested that the election of Chairman Senate be declared null and void and also make Sadiq Sanjrani Chairman Senate. The decision should be quashed.
